The Diet

Most of you know that Ashlee and I went on a diet in June. By the time september rolled around, I had lost 43 pounds. I honestly didn’t realize that I had gotten that big until I saw these pictures back to back.

Wow. What an eye opener!

People’s number one questions is “How did you do it?”

It’s simple and here’s how we did it:


Day 1-3: Eat nothing but salad and thermogenic vegetables (vegetables in which you burn more calories eating than you get from them). Only fat free dressing on your salad. We also ate sugar free Jello for a snack. (I lost 8 pounds in the first three days)

Day 4-10: We added protein back to our diet. Either grilled chicken, fish, or steak. We still couldn’t have bread.

Day 11-30: We added wheat bread back to our diet. Now we could eat sandwiches.

DURING THE ENTIRE DIET:

1. We exercised a minimum of 30 minutes a day (and still do).
2. I gave up regular Coke and now drink Diet Coke (I was getting around 720 calories a day from Coke alone). I never thought I would be able to do it. I HATED, HATED, HATED Diet Coke. Now I like it. I know…. it’s hard for me to believe too!
3. We cut back on the amount of fried food we eat. We eat very healthy during the week and loosen up on the weekend. We don’t eat fried food during the week at all. On the weekends we’ll have fries or chicken fingers if we want…. Usually I don’t want them.

It’s really a lifestyle change - not a diet. Diets tend not to work. We really needed to make some changes in our eating habits because they were catching up with us. My cholesterol had gotten a little higher than normal and we both wanted to make some changes. I knew that we had the trade show coming up in July and I didn’t want to be the “fat guy” pimping his wares….
